We were New Zealand’s first PADI Freedive Center back in the day, so we know our stuff. We offer a unique opportunity to master the art of freediving, tapping into your inner strength and refining your underwater skills.
This course is accessible, exciting, and tailored to help you dive deeper, stay longer, and feel more connected to the ocean. From foundational techniques to advanced breath-hold strategies, our expert instructors ensure that every participant, regardless of experience level, gains valuable skills and confidence.
You'll need your own gear, but don’t worry—our in-house experts are ready to help you get outfitted with a wetsuit, fins, mask, snorkel, and weight belt. And we’ll provide the weights. What to expect on your course
Before the course - Complete your PADI E-Learning
When you sign up for the course, you'll receive an email from PADI with access to your online learning materials. With e-learning, you can study for your dive course at your own pace, right from the comfort of your couch—our digital classroom is wherever you are! While smartphones work great for e-learning, using a computer or tablet with a larger screen can enhance your experience.
Day 1 of the course - Pool session
Each day kicks off at 8am at the dive shop, where we’ll gear up and head to the pool for an exciting and immersive experience. In the pool, you’ll work with our experienced instructors to master skills like static breath-hold and dynamic swims, all in a fun and relaxed environment. There’s plenty of time to perfect your technique while enjoying the process.
Don’t forget to bring your swimwear, towel, and lunch—get ready for a day filled with learning, laughter, and underwater adventure!
Day 2 of the course - Ocean Session
On the final day of the course, we venture to a truly special spot in the Bay of Islands—Deep Water Cove, nestled along Cape Brett. This Rahui area, is teeming with vibrant marine life, making it an incredible place to explore. Here, we’ll practice diving down a line, honing our focus on depth in a serene, untouched environment.
The journey to Deep Water Cove is a scenic 35-minute ride aboard our boat, Rika Maru. Be sure to bring a windproof jacket for the trip home and get ready for an unforgettable day of diving in one of the most pristine spots in the Bay!
Important Information
Age: The minimum age is 12 for this PADI Diver Course. Younger students (10-12 Years) can only complete the pool session no ocean sessions.
Max Depth: The maxmium depth we will dive to is 12m on this course.
Medical History: All Divers are required to complete an PADI Medical Form. This form is valid for 12 month. Please click here to download the PADI Medical Form.
Equipment:
For this course, you'll need to bring all of your own gear. If you're not fully equipped yet, our in-house technical experts are here to help you get set up with everything you need. You'll need a wetsuit, fins, mask, snorkel, and a weight belt—don't worry, we can provide the weights.
Please read before booking
All courses require a min $200 deposit for your online learning: please note that your deposit is non-refundable. Full payment must be made to secure your space on the course. We know life happens so changes can be made to your booking, please note a rebooking fee of $150 applies for sickness (yourself or family), Covid-19 and unexpected circumstances in your life that may stop you attending the course. Students that are a 'No Show' on the day without any contact via email or phone will be removed from the course and are not entitled to any refund.The course must be completed within 12 months if the student exceeds this timeframe without completing the course, the student will need to purchase a new course at the current course price (minus the $200 elearning fee). Please note for safety reasons the course may be postponed due to weather, we will be in touch with you to reschedule if this is the case.
