What Your Day Looks Like
Taking the plunge can feel like a big step, so we've designed our Discover Scuba Diving experience to be as fun, safe, and breathtaking as possible.
You'll start your day by meeting our friendly team at the Dive Zone Bay of Islands headquarters. There's no heavy classroom session; instead, your instructor will give you a fun and fascinating briefing about the simple science of diving, the gear you'll be using, and how we communicate underwater.
Next, we'll head out on our fast dive boat, an adventure in itself, as we cruise through the stunning scenery of the islands. We’ll make our way to the sheltered paradise of Maunganui Bay. Here, in the calm, clear water, we'll help you into your gear. Your instructor will begin with you in water shallow enough to stand in, letting you get a feel for breathing underwater before practicing a few easy skills.
Once you’re comfortable, the real magic begins. Under the close guidance of your instructor, you’ll descend and go for a proper dive, exploring the reef and meeting its colourful inhabitants. You’ll be amazed at the feeling of weightlessness! The day concludes with a relaxing boat ride home, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime.
