Day 1 - 3x dives. Navigation, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Enriched Air (Nitrox
Get ready for an epic start to your adventure! We kick off Day 1 bright and early, meeting at the dive shop at 7 am. Then, it's off to Matauri Bay for three incredible dives. You'll master underwater navigation, hone your Peak Performance Buoyancy (PPB) skills, and dive deeper with Enriched Air (Nitrox). Day 1 is all about perfecting your skills, gaining confidence and having a blast underwater!
Matauri Bay or Putataua is the beach where we will be shore diving. This site is an amazing reef structure that heads out around the point. We will see loads of fish such as snapper, schooling koheru sandaggers wrasse, moray eels and maybe some eagle rays. The water temperature ranges from 16c in the winter to a lovely 22c in the summer time. You will need to bring your togs, towel, lunch and a jacket.
Day 2 - 2x Dives, Deep Diving (30m), Wreck Diving on the HMNZS Canterbury
Day 2 takes the adventure to a whole new level as we head out to Deep Water Cove for our Deep and Wreck Dives on the stunning HMNZS Canterbury. This ex-Navy frigate, purposefully sunk for divers, is an incredible playground waiting to be explored. Deep Water Cove, protected by a Rahui, teems with vibrant marine life, from colorful fish and sponges to the occasional dolphin sighting. We’ll complete two exhilarating dives here, surrounded by the beauty of the underwater world. The day is packed with exploration and fun, and the journey is just as exciting—it's a 35-minute ride on our boat, Rika Maru.
